What are networking socials all about?
A key cornerstone to any business or organization is relationships, and behind every great relationship lies the art of networking. Networking involves listening, reflecting, connecting, building, action-oriented follow-through and persistance toward opportunity. For all of these reasons, WNC DEC has been committed to hosting (quarterly) Networking Socials to create an intentional gathering space amongst local Human Resource professionals, and the greater community. It is our ultimate hope that by way of these Networking Socials, that conversations and possibilities are sparked that will further the mission toward a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce in Asheville and beyond. Together, we can dream up what a multi-cultural community could look like and take a small action, like attending a Networking Social, to make that a reality.
Typically, Networking Socials fall on Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm (or longer when it's a party!).
QUARTER IV :: TUESDAY, DECEMBER 11TH @ 6PM
Honoring and celebrating HOME for the holidays!
For our final Networking Social of the year, we invite friends - new and old - to share a moment of appreciation with us for all that we are striving toward as a commnunity. ALL the various ways you might honor, and acknowledge the holiday season are welcome as you plan your attire for this event! We're always ready for an opportunity to educate and inspire so, culturally-inspired garb, ugly sweaters, and striking bold holiday colors are all game! Join WNC DEC member organizations, including: AB-Tech, Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, Asheville City Schools, Biltmore Company, Buncombe County, Buncombe County Schools, Carolina Day School, City of Asheville, MAHEC, McGuire, Wood & Bissette, Mission Health, Rainbow Mountain Community School, UNC Asheville, United Way of Asheville & Buncombe County, Warren Wilson College, YMCA of Western North Carolina, and YWCA of Asheville....for a night of celebrating who we are through the holidays that hold meaning for us as we all seek to champion diversity, equity and inclusion in Asheville and beyond. Food, entertainment, holiday beverages, door prizes and other SUR-prizes await!
And that's not all! In honor of the season of giving, we are holding a "Dress to Impress" Clothing Drive and donating business attire to a local (FREE) clothes closet to support low-income working professionals and interviewees. Bring your gently used, damage-free business attire to the event. We'll collect and drop off the items on your behalf. We hope you consider giving back and supporting Asheville's diverse professional community!

QUARTER II :: TUESDAY, MAY 1ST @ 6PM
Join WNC Diversity Engagement Coalition and its members for a fun post-work gathering with community champions from around the Southside community, and in greater Asheville. We’ll gather at the beloved community hub, Arthur R. Edington Education & Career Center - home of Green Opportunities, Southside Kitchen, My Community Matters,Word on the Street, Southside Community Garden, & other amazing grassroots orgs.
Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and sweets from Southside Kitchen, provided FREE to attendees courtesy of WNC DEC, libations from local beverage sponsors, connect with member organizations from WNC Diversity Engagement Coalition, experience storytelling as an anti-racism response, and sign the Stand Against Racism Pledge.
This year's #StandAgainstRacism campaign focuses on supporting full access and engagement for women and girls of color in the political process. Voting rights and civic engagement are, and have always been, core components of our racial justice work. This year's theme certainly comes at a pivotal time as civil rights continue to be attacked and eroded for communities of color.
PLEASE RSVP in advance to help us get a head count for food, and beverage. Thank you, and hope to see you soon!
