Empowerment Childcare Lead Teacher - Full Time

Position Summary: The Empowerment Child Care Teacher provides supervision, educational opportunities, and quality care to children in a safe, loving environment. The Teacher is responsible for establishing the environment of the room and for modeling and meeting goals of excellence set by the Director of the Early Learning Program and the YWCA administration. The position is full-time, year-round, benefits eligible and non-exempt. You will be required to produce a background check from the DHHS Childcare division.

Director of School Age Programs:  Supervisor, Full-time, Exempt

Position Summary:  The Director of School Age Programs is a member of the senior leadership team of the YWCA and is responsible for providing quality care for children in kindergarten through 5th grade outside of school hours. The Director of School Age Programs works closely with a racially, culturally, and economically diverse group of participants and colleagues. The position is responsible for creating and sustaining a community of learning, and creativity that ensures that children grow academically, socially, physically, and emotionally in a safe, educational, and fun environment.

The ideal candidate will have skills and/or successful experience in the following:

·         Develops, coordinates, and oversees implementation of an interactive hands-on curriculum. The position provides age appropriate experiences consistent with the mission and values of the YWCA.

·         Creates and implements program plans and activities that support the learning of life and social skills, educational achievement, nutrition, and physical activity for children from kindergarten through sixth grade after school and during the summer.

·         Establishes and sustains relationships with families, community organizations, and schools to identify areas of need for individual children.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the YWCA’s policies. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, mentoring, training and appropriate certifications for staff.
  • Regularly observes staff interactions with children and continually improves their quality of program implementation. 

·         Participates in the development of the program budget. Manages the budget to achieve income, revenue, and expense goals.

·         Monitors state regulations and funding to ensure all requirements are met for attendance, accurate participation records are maintained, sanitation guidelines are followed, and funding is sustained.

Education and Experience:  Masters in Social Worker preferred or closely related field or 10 years of experience working with youth or families.  Minimum 400 hours of verifiable experience working with school age children in a licensed facility.  Must have or be able to complete the North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credentials within 6 months of hire.

Salary $37,000 to $40,000.

 

Early Head Start Teacher - Full Time

Provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for toddlers while they are in the Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Develop individual goals for children, provide on-going assessment on progress and facilitate transition into Head Start or other pre-school settings. Support parents in their role as primary caretakers and educators of their children and encourage their involvement in all aspects of the program. Maintain on-going contact with families and work with all other components (health, nutrition, family services, mental health, special services, parent education and resource/referral) to integrate services into the family setting. Ensure the program is meeting goals of excellence set by the Director of Early Learning Program. The position is full-time, year-round, benefits eligible and non-exempt.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of an infant/toddler certificate or infant/toddler CDA.
  • Preferred an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood, or birth to kindergarten education, or a four year degree in a related field that includes 6 classes focusing on early childhood education/development.
  • Previous classroom experience working with children, birth to kindergarten.
  • Ability to apply Early Childhood Development theory in daily classroom activities, and adapt to the individual needs of children.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and to work as part of a team.

·         Individuals with a related degree and at least 18 semester hours in infant/toddler coursework will be considered.

·         Must have flexible schedule to accommodate family needs, may include some evening or weekend hours.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly desirable.

·         Intermediate to advanced computer skills, internet and e-mail.

  • Must have a valid Driver's License and proof of insurance and must provide own vehicle for home visits. Regular driving for home visits sometimes in outlying areas is required.
  • Within 30 days of employment must be Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified.
